It’s not at all like the go-karts at Putt-Putt…

So my nephew went and had the audacity to turn 30 this last week (I know I’m barely 30 myself but still) and instead of having any regular kind of party decided a whole bunch of us should head down to VIR and attempt to do some racing on some awesome go karts. Up until this point my only experience with karting has either to do with those load smokey things they toss you into at miniature golf courses and the various incarnations of Mario Kart that I’ve played throughout the years. Unlike the mini-golf places these things were fast. I felt every turn, I was drifting into corners (which gives you lots of points in most games but really just kind of slows you down in real life) and I was making tires squeal on almost every turn. You’re probably going to ask how I placed and before I tell you I came in last on all three heats I will defend myself by saying a.) I was arguably the heaviest person there (no, I was not the theoretical Bowser on the track) and b.) my driving skills when it comes to racing…well…I’m just not that good. ;)

Anyway, it was a lot of fun – I’m totally bruised and sore – I can’t wait to go back. Happy Birthday Jer!
